About TET

TET stands for Teacher Eligibility Test, which is an entrance exam conducted by various state and central education boards in India. The primary objective of TET is to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in government schools from class I to VIII.

TET exams usually consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering various subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Social Studies, and Language I and II (compulsory). The syllabus and exam pattern may vary slightly from state to state, but the basic objective is to assess the candidate’s knowledge, teaching ability, and aptitude for teaching.

There are two categories of TET exams – Primary TET (for classes I to V) and Upper Primary TET (for classes VI to VIII). Candidates who aspire to teach both levels must appear for both the exams. TET certificates are valid for a specific duration (usually 7 years), and candidates who clear the exam can apply for teaching jobs in government schools in their respective states.
