The Home Defense Corps (HDC) is a volunteer organization in India formed in 1962 to assist the police and other security forces in maintaining internal security and law and order during emergencies. The HDC is comprised of trained civilians who are equipped to handle crisis situations and provide assistance to the public. They receive training in crowd control, communication, and disaster management. The HDC operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is active in several states in India, playing a significant role in maintaining peace and security.
