Careers are meant to offer job satisfaction while some of them provide good salary and job security. Amidst this, Civil service is a career which surpasses other career in terms of each and every factor. As stated in my last article ‘5 reasons for opting civil services as a career’ it was clearly reflected that the civil service is a career which endows all the benefits such as job security, respect, and government perks. Other careers are lucrative but when it comes to the overall scenario, civil services has an edge over other career. The reason why this career is more preferred:

Rigorous training

The civil service is one such career which is suited for the best candidate. Only a few are selected and provided training. This makes a well disciplined and dedicated batch. Hence there is no leniency in this career which can be seen in other careers. One needs to have strong bent of mind and ability to cope with the harsh situation to come out with flying colors. When it comes to other career those are depended more on skills and less on physical labor.

Decision making in the country

Civil servants are the limbs of the government and therefore have a huge role in the decision making of the country. This is not prevalent in other career. Careers like MBA, CA, CS, B. Tech, M.S.C, and LLB all are destined to support the organization or any individual. The decision making is done for a specific thing. In case of civil service the decision making is done keeping in interest the benefit of the country. Hence this career has an advantage in terms of the decision making process.

Job Security

When it comes to civil servants they have an edge in terms of job security. They cannot be fired easily. Once they are elected they have tenure till the age of 60 and can be extended too. In case of other career the biggest loophole remains is of the job security. The biggest danger lies in the private organization where the job security is always at stake. Civil servants carry the benefit of job security along with good perks.

Challenging job

Civil services is a challenging career as compared to other career. The civil servants are not only entrusted with the task of administration but this career has a wide ambit and covers law and order, development of the society, social change etc. Hence the job is challenging and not hooked to a single role. Even the civil servants are selected to represent the country in international forums. On the contrary other careers are not as challenging as this one, job satisfaction might be there but on an overall basis other careers are not as bright as this one.

Hence it can clearly be concluded that civil services is one of the illustrious career which is not linked to a single role. The career is challenging and rewarding therefore it has an edge over other career.
