About CPCB
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India. It was established in 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and later on, under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, in 1981. The primary responsibility of CPCB is to monitor and control the pollution of air and water in the country.
CPCB is involved in conducting research and providing technical assistance to various state pollution control boards and government agencies. It also sets standards for ambient air quality, emission from industries, and effluent discharge from industries, among others. The board plays a crucial role in regulating and enforcing environmental laws and regulations in the country.
CPCB has its headquarters in Delhi and regional offices in different parts of the country. The board has been instrumental in creating public awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable development.

The SC/ ST/ PwD/ Ex-Servicemen (Ex-Serviceman one-hour test) and women are exempted from paying examination fee. However, all candidates are required to register and pay a test session charge of Rs. 250/- for two-hour test and Rs. 150/- for one-hour test at the time of registration.

Qualification
- Required educational qualifications for Scientist ‘B’:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering from a recognized University or Institution for 34 posts, or in Computer Science/Information Technology for 04 posts.
- A Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology is preferred but not required, or alternatively, a Master’s Degree in Chemistry (All Branches)/Environmental Sciences from a recognized University or Institution for 24 posts.
- NET Qualified/Ph.D. is preferred but not required.
- Essential requirements for Assistant Law Officer:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized University or Institution.
- Should have at least five years of experience either as an Officer of the State Judicial Service or in the Legal Department of a State or as a Central Government servant with five years’ experience in legal affairs or as a qualified legal practitioner who has practiced as such for five years.
- Note: The advocacy period shall be included as part of the required experience of five years.
- Required qualifications for Assistant Accounts Officer:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from a recognized University or Institute.
- Should have at least five years of experience in a supervisory level or as a Subordinate Audit/Account Services Examination accountant with five years of experience in accounts, audit, and related financial works in an organization or institution of repute.
- Associated Member of Chartered Accounts of India or Institution of Costs and Works Accounts is desirable.
- Required qualifications for Senior Scientific Assistant:
- Must have a Master’s degree in science from a recognized University or Institution.
- Should have at least two years of experience in the relevant field, preferably in pollution control and related subjects in any organization or institution of repute.
- Required qualifications for Technical Supervisor:
- Must have a degree in Instrumentation Engineering.
- Should have at least three years of experience in the relevant field.
- Required qualifications for Assistant:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institution.
- Must pass the skill test on computer in English Typing @ 35 words per minute (10500 KDPH on average of 5 key depressions for each word)/Hindi Typing @ 30 words per minute (9000KDPH on average of 5 key depressions for each word) within ten minutes.
- Essential requirements for Accounts Assistant:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from a recognized University or Institution.
- Should have at least three years of experience in accounts, audit, cash handling, or any other related work in an organization or institution of repute.
- Required qualifications for Junior Technician:
- Must have a Diploma in Electronics from a recognized Institute.
- Should have at least one year of relevant experience in servicing laboratory machines in an organization or institution of repute.
- Required qualifications for Senior Laboratory Assistant:
- Must have passed twelfth standard in Science from a recognized Board or Institution.
- A degree in science from a recognized University or Institution is desirable.
- Should have at least three years of experience in the relevant field.
- Essential requirements for Upper Division Clerk:
- Must have a degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Must have a typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi only on computer, and the time allowed is ten minutes.
- Essential requirements for Data Entry Operator Grade-II:
- Must have passed 12th standard from a recognized Board or Institution.
- Must pass a speed test of not less than 8000 key depressions per hour for data entry work to be ascertained through speed test on computer.
- Essential requirements for Junior Laboratory Assistant:
Must have passed 12th standard in a science subject from a recognized board.
It is desirable to have a degree in science from a recognized university or institution. - To be eligible for the role of Lower Division Clerk, one must have passed 12th standard or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board. In addition, they should have a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi on a computer. The time allowed for the test is ten minutes. Note that 35 words per minute and 30 words per minute correspond to 10500 KDPH or 9000 KDPH, respectively, on an average of five key depressions for each word.
- The Field Attendant position requires a candidate to have passed 10th standard from a recognized board. It is desirable to have passed 12th standard with Science from a recognized board and have robust health and the ability to swim.
- The Multi-Tasking Staff position requires a candidate to have passed 10th standard from a recognized board or institution. Alternatively, they can have a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute in one of the following trades: Electrician (03 posts), Plumber (02 posts), Fire & Safety (01 post), Pump Operator (01 post).
