About ECHS
The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is a healthcare scheme that was established by the Indian government to provide medical facilities to ex-servicemen and their eligible dependents. The scheme was launched in April 2003 and is managed by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) under the Ministry of Defence.
The ECHS aims to provide comprehensive medical care to ex-servicemen and their dependents, including emergency treatment, specialist consultation, diagnostic services, and hospitalization. The scheme also covers domiciliary care, which allows patients to receive medical treatment at home. In addition, the ECHS provides financial assistance for treatment at government and private hospitals.
