MBA, simply put, is a post graduation degree in the field of business administration. But why people, at present, are running behind MBAs is quite a weighty question. In the previous post, we have talked about the basics of BBAs & MBAs. Even the MBA aspirants themselves do not have a clear idea as to why they are pursuing an MBA. Some say that this 2 years study will give them a quick and well-paying job whereas few others are of the opinion that entering a professional course will provide them with a sense of job security. I have even seen people struggling with CAT and MAT preparations during their B.A, B.Com, or B.SC courses just because they are reluctant to pursue a Masters’ degree in their respective fields as in M.A, M.Com, OR M.SC respectively.

After having face-to-face conversations with several MBA aspirants I have been able to jot down few reasons as to why people run behind MBAs. • Entrepreneurship– One does not necessarily require an MBA degree to be an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship and leadership skills are inherent in an individual. But in order to build a successful business you must concentrate on proper networking, the ultimate x-factor in building a huge business. You can do so once you are backed by an MBA degree from a recognized institute. There’s no better way to promote your business than building relations with smart and educated people and with the companies to which they belong and you can successfully do so if have the tag of an MBA degree from a premiere institute.
• Career Advancement– Once you join an organization as a graduate you will find that other employees, in the same level as yours’, possess similar degree. Basis of promotion gets more difficult as contenders go on increasing. You remain stagnant for a good number of years due to inadequate educational qualification. In this situation an MBA degree comes into play as it helps you to gain quick promotions and thus prove your worth in the industry.
• Huge Salary- Being an MBA you can demand huge salary compared to a mere graduate. It takes a lot to successfully complete an MBA course both mentally and financially and that should certainly be reflected in your salary. Companies, at present, are recruiting MBAs with huge salary package.
• Shift in career– What will happen if you are bored with your current job? Is it that easy to shift your career towards any way you like? No, it’s not. If you end up finding your true calling after you have already completed 5-6 years of service or even more in a definite field, you will find it difficult to switch over. However, an MBA degree might help you in successful career shifting.
• Future Asset– Now-a-days companies are spending a good amount of money in getting their existing employees an MBA degree. An MBA degree has proved to be a plus-point as during the course students go through hardcore practical training and development which is an asset for the company. I have seen innumerable MBA degree holders who, in order to earn this degree, quitted their job to increase their job hiring prospects.
