3 examples of Honesty of IAS Officers being paid
In some of our previous posts we have known that civil services is the most coveted career. For the thousands of us who grew in midst of people having the dreams of getting into the prestigious position of Indian Administration Services i.e. the IAS, the repeated agitations of the suspensions and other unexpected situations which an honest officer has to go through is way too scary and making the individuals to think twice before opting this as their profession.
Everywhere there are conspicuous examples of how the system of government is just a toy thing in the hands of the smugly negligent political group. Honesty and integrity have no place in the civil services. Many have even paid their lives.
Take for instance the case of IAS officer Rahul Sharma who was transferred to a small village at Ahmadabad after issuing orders for an open fire on Hindu trouble makers during the Gujarat riot. The list is merely endless where the honesty of IAS officers are rewarded with transfers to smaller villages, suspensions and sometimes even permanent termination.
Salary of IAS Officers
A junior scale officer can get a pay-scale of up to Rs. 15600-39100 with a grade pay off Rs.5400 increment. And then it gradually increases depending on the rank and the grade.
Inspite of a considerably less pay-scale with more risks involved, people prefer to join such prestigious services just to bring a change in the society but when their honesty can lead them to troubles where would the administration of the country land?
After the recent issue of Ms Durga Shakti Nagpal who was under the spotlight after taking charge against the sand mafia, and later suspended. She is one of the youngest IAS officers in the country who quite well fought the mafia but this did not go well along with the politicians and other high-class people who are involved tha is why she has been suspended for two different reasons today, the other reason being the orders issued for demolishing a wall of a religious place during the time of Eid.
In the list, Mr.Ashok Khema is also included, where a complaint was even lodged regarding the stand he took against Vadra, and he was transferred almost 9 times in five years and thee congress government also transferred him almost 16 times in 7 years.
Fight against Corruption
A sincere officer can ethically raise his/her voice against the immorality unless he/she is supported at every stage of their decisions by the society, family (wives and children). It is just not enough only if an officer is honest to fight against the corrupt persons and the corrupt society, the family members also need to be equally honest to carry out his/her functions.
Known that the day-by-day increasing business is the IAS coaching institutes in the small towns, across the country, the dream still persists to land in a civil service job. But for those who have a gut feeling that you can do something which can change the system against the so called “higher officials” in the hierarchy, be aware and think twice ladies and gentlemen because you would be nothing more than a politician’s play toy!
